Clan training server updates

I will post in this from time to time on the progress with the clan server

Currently: Ubuntu downloaded, and will be installed when I wake up in the morning...
After Ubuntu is installed, I will set up the server (it will be dedicated just for one day per week)
Admin levels have been designed and issued, rcon has been set (sorry bor and glame, but because this is my server, I will give you lvl 10, but I need to keep the rcon to myself...I don't want problems with my laptop...cost me $1200)
Server will be running korx mod 3.1, and the url will be directed there, so we will have access to the large korx map folder

giving out rcon will not ruin your laptop, and you SHOULD give it out but only to very trusted people as it is a good tool to have if something goes wrong

oh, and if you need help with ubuntu, i'm the guy to talk to

I don't see any way rcon could hurt your laptop either. The server would get pretty screwed up if it got into the wrong hands, but that would just mean you would have to delete a few files (or reset stuff by hand), and back to normal.

I have some expirence with Ubuntu as well, but I'm not sure how it compares to Glameow.

P.S. I have an old desktop (Low end Win XP era, but it's linux now) that is never used. I could run a (slow, my internet's not great) server pretty much 24/7. If your internet is as slow as mine (and thus the speed difference is inconsequential) I could try to set it up.

I have the slowest internet so far, but still the lowest ping! Main problem is it raises to 500+ is someone else starts downloading something, or watching YouTube.

that's the ping to the speedtest.net server you choose, not trem ping

I know, but it's somewhat better than a few others. I usually get 50-100 ping on KoRX anyways.

I made an admin.dat especially for Glame's server, i think you should take it for your server, too.

Bor, Glame likes my admin.dat for this server, because it is specially created for the boot camp server

Not to double post but current status

Linux system: Hatin on my mac, I got it to work, but its being laggy, so that might take a day or 2 to debug it
Server: admin.dat ready, code compiled, just waiting on the linux system
Current mod: Korx 3.1 (reason, massive amounts of bugs in 3.2)

Fine, but the forum admin ranks have to match with your admin ranks at the server.

lol i didn't really decide anything... maybe we should mix the two because bor has some nice commands too

actually maybe we should stick with the granger theme, as we all (once the server is up) are going to ethereal and locking humans, with everyone granger, we all go to the granger machine and fight for it!

this will be an official clan warm-up match and must be set up at least a week in advance for maximum player count :3
