This is a post from a few days back in the GBA devs section, It isn't doing much there so im moving here. Tue Oct 05, 2010 8:03 am

I'm going to try edit the Game.qmv from KorX and compile it on a spare computer which I'm either going to have Ubuntu or Debian installed.

I will also scour the web for quake three models I can use and convert. It is going to be based of KorX and try get the bugs fixed by looking at the KorX bugtracker.

I shall hopefully start it tonight. There shall be updates every couple of days also.

Update from today:

I have now installed Ubuntu, but still don't know how to compile it. Any help is welcome

If i get this customizable gear for humans to work, do you want to add it to your mod?
I don't really feel like doing a whole new mod just for one thing.

When you say work in progress, does that mean partly coded or something you want to do? If it's the former, "HOLY FUCK I CAN'T WAIT! GOOD JOB!", but if it's the latter, did you hear about how much of a bitch it was to make the Xael and Spitfire?

When it has got that on, it means I have actually started to work on it. All the ideas on there I am going to try to complete.

Most of that was making the new models and texturing so I've cut out about 4/5ths of that by getting the models from elsewhere

P.s. Can someone please help me to compile a game.qmv? I have everything I need (A spare computer with Ubuntu Installed)

I never said it was a work in progress.
But I'm pretty sure I know what i have to do.
The only thing i am sure that i am not sure of is the .qvm. Anyone know how to compile that in windows xP?

I'm pretty sure all i need to do is create several files with the same helmet model, color it for custom-ation, and then code it in the qvm to let tremulous do the rest. Am i right?

I know you can get a pack, But thats for a normal game.qmv not the KorX one...

Basically it is everything, without it a server wouldn't be able to function

I still think "Derp, Derp, Giggity" Would be the best taunt ever...

Beans, maybe find a way to cycle the music so that it chooses a different one on random when you open it?

A. I don't think thats possible
B. The filesize would skyrocket
C. It would require alot of time (which I don't have anymore)

I don't know if this helps you or not hovel, but i found this program that will take all the programs and make it easier to read.
It's called notepad++

So far, it takes qvm, dat files, and more. In fact, pretty much everything other than the pk3's.
Also, i might need a little help with the helmets. I'm not really sure where to put them. 0.0

I've already got it, I thought you did too. I had a microsoft program before that. and I dunno where the helmets are, I need Daylights Chainret before I attempt anything else.

I'd never heard of it before i googled how to compile a qvm on windows xp. -.-
Anyways, all i need is the location for where they keep the list of weapons in korx. I found it in normal trem, but i can't seem to find it in the korx files.
Today was quite insightful.

look for a makefile, then open up terminal and "cd" to the directory the makefile is in.

then type "make".

there is a good tutorial by camper on how to do it on the knightsofreason forums.

its "game.qvm" not "qmv".
qvm is a quake virtual machine, while qmv would be..... qwerquey machine v-tornado or something...lol

A few things:

  • I've given up now because i cannot get it to work.
  • But i'll keep a steady stream of simple ideas if you like.
  • I don't think that i will be doing any modding for a little while.
